Transit Services for Akron Regional ITS Architecture Roles and Responsibilities

METRO Regional Transit Authority (METRO)	Provide METRO fixed–route transit service information via electronic displays on the buses.
	Provide paratransit services throughout Summit County.
	Perform maintenance and repair on METRO RTA transit vehicles.
	Monitor and evaluate operations and schedule performance of METRO fixed–route services.
	Track the locations of METRO fixed–route and paratransit vehicles.
	Monitor health and conditions of METRO fixed–route vehicles.
	Monitor surveillance cameras on METRO transit vehicles and at bus stops/transit facilities.
	Operate an Automated Passenger Counting (APC) system on METRO fixed–route vehicles.
	Operate an on–board electronic fare box payment system for METRO fixed–route and paratransit services.
	Provide transit service/rider information (i.e., transit schedule and fare information) through METRO's website.
	Provide METRO fixed–route transit service information via electronic information displays and kiosks at bus stops/transit centers.
	Provide fixed–route transit services throughout Summit County, with Northcoast Express services from METRO's downtown transit center to Cleveland.
Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA)	Provide paratransit services for Portage County, as well as routes that service the cities of Akron and Stow (Summit County) and Cleveland (Cuyahoga County).
	Perform maintenance and repair on PARTA transit vehicles.
	Monitor and evaluate operations and schedule performance of PARTA fixed–route services.
	Track the locations of PARTA fixed–route and paratransit vehicles.
	Monitor surveillance cameras on PARTA transit vehicles and at bus stops/transit facilities.
	Operate an electronic smart card fare payment system for PARTA fixed–route services.
	Operate an on–board electronic fare box payment system for PARTA fixed–route services.
	Provide transit service/rider information (i.e., transit schedule and fare information) through PARTA's website.
	Provide PARTA fixed–route transit service information via electronic information displays and kiosks at bus stops/transit centers.
	Provide fixed–route transit services for Portage County, as well as routes that service the cities of Akron and Stow (Summit County) and Cleveland (Cuyahoga County).
University of Akron	Provide transit service/rider information (i.e., shuttle schedule and location tracking information) through the University of Akron Parking and Transportation Services website.
	Provide a transit service for the University of Akron (Roo Express Shuttle Service).
	Track the locations of Roo Express Shuttle Service vehicles.
